Mohammed Madi, 22, lives in Al Falouja in the Jabalia refugee camp, the highest populated camp in the Gaza Strip and is studying Mechatronic Engineering at Al Zahar University in Gaza. “Mechatronics” is the newest specialty in Gaza universities and emerged based due to the lack of expertise in mechanical and electrical control engineering in the Gaza market. Currently in his final year, Mohammed tops his classmates with an 84.5% cumulative mark.

Mohammed has a great passion for social media, as evident when the Dynamic Futures Program announced they would begin using Instagram; Mohammed has been very creative in developing ideas and taking good photos.

“For me, Social media is the minimum advocacy activity that I can contribute to in order to reflect the student’s life in Gaza. In fact, I believe in the power of a picture and the impressions that it can make.  Gaza is truly suffering and the media is not reflecting that. Every single day, we encounter a problem either related to electricity, transportation, or obstacles inside classes.”

“During the Al Fakhoora Virtual Majlis sessions, I was in the background contributing on Twitter. Reflecting the discussions taking place. It was really strange to see the level of illiteracy about Gaza and how others view us. That was very interesting, and I felt I was able to be an active member of my community and reveal the suffering and highly unfair siege over Gaza Strip.”

"Humanity will not overcome the immense challenges we face unless we ensure that children get the quality education that equips them to play their part in the modern world." -- HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser
