PEIC at CIES 2017

PEIC led a workshop on education in fragile and post-conflict situations on 5 March in Atlanta at CIES2017. Over 50 experts listened as Mubarak Al-Thani welcomed them on behalf of EAA and PEIC. The keynote address by Aaron Benavot, the head of GEM Report introduced SDG Target 4.7, requiring education to help build sustainable peace and respect for human rights and cultural diversity.The purpose of the workshop was to ensure that education materials support Target 4.7, are conflict-sensitive and help reduce the risk of future conflict. Participants worked productively for 6 hours, with one working group using Bloom software and the other focused on strategy and follow-up.
