EAA Youth Series: Noor Al Qaedi
My name is Noor AlQaedi and I am a very proud Tartan! I hold a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, UX design track, from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and I am an EAA Youth Advocate.
Throughout my educational journey, I've developed strong skills that I use in my career and community. My philosophy in life is to make choices that allow me to live in peace and happiness, even if it’s small pieces of happiness, every day. I believe it's a moral responsibility to contribute to my community, and it's really something that adds to my inner happiness. My values in life are honesty, respect and commitment.
We live in an interesting era, but the power of education never ceases to amaze me. I developed a passion for education from a young age. I used to ask my teacher to let me explain concepts and ideas to my fellow students. I found happiness transferring knowledge to others.
Through my experiences, I found that it was not only teaching that I’m passionate about, but, education in general. First, I developed my teaching skills and had a great chance to teach refugees in Athens. I was also given the opportunity to lead a summer class for young students in Qatar. Dealing with kids is amazing, especially when you see the direct impact you are having on them. I find working with kids and teaching them a very rewarding experience.
Relatively, I developed a strong belief that in addition to physical well-being, refugees mental well-being is important, so, with a team of three, I designed a programme for refugees in China that aims to build their resilience and mental well-being.
I strongly believe a key part of my professional development comes from being open to meeting people from various cultures, because learning does not only come from books, but also people. I’m grateful to have had the chance to represent Qatar in several programmes abroad during my academic journey and career. It has given me a great opportunity to meet people from all around the globe, to share experiences and aim for a better community.
I’m fortunate to be a youth advocate because it enables the achievement of my moral responsibility goals. I’m confident that my future will be filled with new successful stories to share!
