PEIC joined forces with its partner, the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI), for a week-long workshop in northern Uganda on February 6-10, 2017. PEIC worked with WPDI youth leaders from Northern Uganda and South Sudan, to discuss the importance of education as a fundamental human right that is even more important during war, conflict and insecurity.
PEIC held group discussions on the use of international criminal law to hold to account those who perpetrate genocide and the Safe Schools Declaration; A film about Rwanda titled 'Sometimes in April' was screened that led to a deep conversation on how to disrupt the process of ethnic violence, the International Criminal Court and its mandate in Eastern Africa.
