Quality Education: Equitable access to quality education is the core of our mission. EAA supports programmes and projects that provide learning spaces, teacher trainings, local government capacity expansion, non-formal primary education; post-secondary scholarships; information and communication technology education; and vocational and skills training across 52 countries.

Gender Equality: Education is the greatest equaliser, especially in cases of longstanding inequity such as gender-based discrimination. Through education and equal opportunities, girls and women have a significantly better chance to fulfil their potential – be it in their homes, communities, workplaces, or institutions of influence.

Affordable and Clean Energy: Like education, clean and accessible energy is an essential building block for a country’s social, economic, and environmental development. Decent Work and Economic Growth: Completing one’s education is one of the strongest drivers of a child – and a society‘s chance to prosper and thrive. Studies have shown that each additional year of schooling raises average annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth by 0.37 percent.

Sustainable Development: The drive for sustainable development has accelerated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby USD 2.2 trillion of R&D investments were injected into predictive problem-solving for business and people continuity, according to the UN.  Sustainable solutions sit at the heart of our work. We strive to ensure that the knowledge and skills that our projects generate are absorbed locally and continue to serve children, families, and communities long after projects are completed. The drive for sustainable development has accelerated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby USD 2.2 trillion of R&D investments were injected into predictive problem-solving for business and people continuity, according to the UN.  Sustainable solutions sit at the heart of our work. We strive to ensure that the knowledge and skills that our projects generate are absorbed locally and continue to serve children, families, and communities long after projects are completed.

Reduced Inequalities: The higher the access to quality education, the more country’s income inequality narrows. Through schooling and lifelong learning opportunities that are tailored to a community’s needs, languages, and culture, children and youth are empowered to overcome marginalisation and inequality.

Sustainable cities and communities: Cities and individuals with access to proper infrastructure education are more likely to absorb, support, and innovate on solutions for a sustainable, resilient world. EAA’s gender-sensitive shelters for IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) facilities across schools ensure that its communities access infrastructure that serves as a model for their own sustainable development.

Responsible Consumption: The global ‘material footprint’ has increased by 70% between 2000 and 2017, threatening achievements made by the Paris Agreement and UN’s 2030 agenda for environmental conservation. Across its programmes, EAA has joined global effort to use and produce in sustainable ways through the provision of environmental education and awareness of sustainable development, minimal waste, conservation and eco-conscious lifestyles.

Climate Action: With 2019 ranking as the second warmest year on record and the end of the warmest decade, where Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reached new heights, according to the UN, the global combat against climate change has grown ever more urgent.

Life Below Water: Over three billion people across the globe, and particularly in underserved communities, rely on oceans for their livelihoods. Dead zones,  areas of water that lack sufficient oxygen to support marine life, have risen from 400 in 2008 to 700 in 2019. Across its communities, EAA raises awareness on marine life conservation as a catalyst for socioeconomic sustainability. The sustainable management and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems are central to the survival of many communities, particularly in countries experiencing high pollution levels.

Life on Land: With many endangered species around the world – more than a quarter assess by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at risk of extinction –   global policymakers and agencies have turned their attention to protecting, restoring, and promoting the conservation of terrestrial and other ecosystems. The EAA has joined this effort, raising environmental awareness on the sustainable management of forest, land, and biodiversity throughout its educational programmes and on-site projects. 

Peace and justice: Education is essential to the socialisation and value system of these people, particularly among displaced children who bear the brunt of conflict and instability.
