Artificial Intelligence Discussion Paper
This discussion paper explores the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing pressing global challenges, particularly in education. Despite over 1 billion people using AI worldwide, its current impact often falls short of expectations, especially for marginalised learners. The paper highlights urgent issues such as rising inequity, increased out-of-school children, and environmental crises, emphasising the need for innovative approaches.
EAA advocates for AI as a tool to enhance efficiency, personalise learning, and expand access to education while maintaining a human-centred approach. Key recommendations include integrating AI responsibly, ensuring community ownership and establishing safeguards against biases. The paper also stresses that technology alone cannot guarantee transformation; success depends on the interplay of technology, people, and systems. EAA calls for collaborative efforts to harness AI effectively, aiming to create equitable, context-aware solutions that empower communities and foster sustainable development.
We invite our colleagues to engage in a collaborative dialogue on the ideas presented in this paper. Your insights, experiences, and critiques are invaluable for enriching our understanding and advancing our field; we hope that your participation will help foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and enhance the collective knowledge of our community.
